THE FAIRY TALE MARRIAGE

The Fairy Tale Marriage

The Royal Wedding

The upcoming marriage of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle has caused quite a stir that we have not seen since Princess Diana got married to Prince Charles. There is an excitement that surpasses none other and the world will be able to be a part of the nuptials, since the happy couple is going to make the ceremony public. Not only that, but they invited 2600 people to be on the grounds of St. Georges church to see the fairly tale couple up close and personal.

So, why the fascination about this marriage that surpasses most? Why is the world anticipating this event as if it is their own marriage, so to speak? Why has Prince Harry and Meghan Markle captured the world at large into their every move on wedding preparations?

I think the answer lies in our childhood. Yes, our childhood. I would venture to guess that most, not all, but most little girls dream of meeting their prince charming and being whisked away on a white horse to a beautiful castle and living happily ever after. When I was 10 years old I loved Cinderella and I wanted to be just like her. I envisioned my Prince Charming valiantly riding a white horse coming to whisk me away to a beautiful castle where we would live happily ever after. Didn’t all girls want a prince charming at a certain time in their lives? Unfortunately, reality sets in and an average of 50% of all marriages end in divorce. Therefore, the dream is over when the marriage ends. Then we have people who are single, never married, who are also drawn into the fairytale, hoping they will one day meet their prince charming and live happily ever after. There are also men drawn into this fairy tale wedding with their own ego playing the role of Prince Harry and feeling like the fantasy could possibly play out in their own life, if only they can meet a beautiful princess.

I have seen people in the media, like Kit Hoover and Nancy O’Dell beaming whenever they would tell a snippet of the impending nuptials. The big question in everyone’s mind is what will Meghan’s wedding dress look like. This has been kept more secret than pentagon files! However, the beautiful couple has given us the details on their wedding cake, hoping that will hold the publics curiosity until the May 19th wedding day. Now we have this beautiful bride who is an American treading on Britain royalty ground. I am routing for Meghan to make the grades and become a royal, although we know deep in our hearts she will always be an American. And Meghan has been a quick study, playing the royal game to a tee. Her beauty is captivating and everything she wears sells out within hours. Her wool British-style coats has become a staple of her style and elegance. She has been compared to Princess Diana on a lot of levels, especially her humanitarian side. Meghan and Duchess of Cambridge are striking up a great friendship and I have a feeling Kate is the one giving Meghan pointers on her new wardrobe.

As we get closer and closer to the wedding date, one thing is for sure. It will be a public event that will bring in over 1 billion dollars to the UK economy. Although that is a great boast to the economy, the actual love story is the thrill for me. So, has we count down the days to the royal wedding of the year, one thing is for sure, it will definitely live up to my fairy tale dreams.
